Current: The Fessenden Center is a multi-generational facility serving all of Hatteras Island with programs and activities for toddlers, youth, adults, older adults, and families. Located in Buxton, Dare County Parks and Recreation programming and Dare County Adult and Senior Services are both offered through the facility. The Fessenden Center staff seeks to provide professionally designed and supervised programs that benefit all ages and interests in areas such as athletics, arts, wellness and general leisure programming. Youth programs include a variety of classes and lessons as well as, team and individual sports, summer camps, and special events. Adult programs are also diverse including shopping trips, movies, luncheons, team sports, fitness classes and speakers covering a variety of topics
