Current: The Jacksonville Senior Center began as the Golden Age Leisure Activities Club (GALA) in 1973 with 29 individuals and five ministers at St. John's Lutheran of Sweet Air. In 1974 it moved to Chestnut Grove Presbyterian Church. In 1979 it became the Jacksonville Senior Center at the former U.S. Army Nike Missile Base on Papermill Road. In August 2010, the center relocated to a new facility at Sweet Air Park. What began as 29 members is now over 1,300 members!
