Current: Here at the Loyalton Senior Center we offer many one-of-a-kind services along with the Outreach Program, lunches provided by the Nutrition Program, the Transportation Program, activities, monthly Newsletters, and many others. The Outreach program offers legal referral services; annual tax preparation assistance through AARP; we can help you locate in-home care assistance and providers; volunteer opportunities, and informational workshops. Serving lunches to the seniors often elicits questions and concerns both from the clients, and about the clients. The Outreach program offers the opportunity to address these concerns. From health issues, landlord disputes, or even moral support, staff advocates for the needs of the seniors in Sierra County. This program also lends medical equipment to local residents (i.e., walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, etc.). Adults in Sierra County have access to a nutritious meal five days a week from the Nutrition Program through ISCSC. Meals provide a socialization opportunity when we can gather for lunches Monday through Friday. The Transportation Program is open to residents of eastern Sierra County. At least once a week, our bus heads out to Reno for shopping trips. Call to schedule your medical appointment transportation, for local shopping in Loyalton, or rides to local unique events (the events schedule is posted in our newsletter). Activities at the Senior Center consist of exercise class, conversational Spanish class, knitting lessons, yoga, grocery store bingo, monthly movies, and many others. A monthly newsletter is published, which supplies the lunch menu for that month, transportation schedule, nutritional information, the month's activities, and other interesting information for seniors.
